About Me

Hi!

I'm Sarah Callaghan and I’m an artist based in Greater London, UK.

I love music and have always been obsessed with song lyrics - looking them up and writing them down. I always dreamt of being an artist and hoped that there would be some way of combining the two as I am definitely not musically gifted! Always putting it to the back of my mind, I kept art as a hobby whilst I trained to become a nurse and started a family. I now work as a nurse and I have 2 young children and most of my spare time (when I get any!) is dedicated to creating art! I started my small business on Etsy while on maternity leave with my daughter in 2018. I wanted to create unique portraits of musicians I admire, that celebrates their music and song writing… and so Handwritten by Sarah was born. 

My best selling print is one I initially created for my sister and her husband of Brian Fallon from The Gaslight Anthem. In December 2020, Brian Fallon shared it in his instagram page and my inbox went crazy! I’ve since sold my lyrics prints to customers in over 30 US states and parts of Europe, Asia and Australia. It blows my mind that my artwork is in peoples homes all over the world. It really is a dream come true. I’ve found a lot of like minded music fans on instagram and it really can be such a supportive and inspiring community if you find the right people.

As well as musicians prints, I adore creating custom portraits, especially wedding portraits and those of friends and family with special songs and working from customer photographs. Many customers have told me portraits they have ordered have become treasured pieces of artwork in their homes and are always a talking point for guests.
